Jonty Skrufff: DJ Biography (October 2006)
Just over 2 years after he launched his DJ career at London fashionista/ clubbing hotspot Golf Sale, Jonty Skrufff has established himself as a leading player on the global alternative electro scene, spinning dirty rocking electro-disco-tech everywhere from Brazil (Amp Galaxy/ Dama de Ferro) to China (Volar) Berlin (Club Rio/ Club Ruder, Sage Club) and beyond (Kiev, Bangkok, Paris, Lyons),
Still playing regularly at London?s coolest cutting edge mixed clubs (including Trailer Trash, Boombox, and mad tranny fetish institution Kaos) he?s also DJed at London superclubs Ministry Of Sound, Turnmills, Heaven and Fabric (holding a 9 month residency at DTPM) as well as 3 prestige slots at Serbia?s renowned Exit Festival this year (including headlining the Electrana stage).
In between trips to Toyko (Ageha Club), Czech Republic (Electrana @ The Roxy, Citadella Festival) and Berlin (for a new residency at new club Ruder) he recently performed a mini-tour of Croatia and Slovenia, and starts the New Year with repeat dates at the Roxy (Prague) and South Africa (Cape Town?s Gay Pride and Global Breakthrough)
Alongside his thriving DJ career, Jonty continues to run his hugely credible alternative press agency Skrufff.com and publish his acclaimed e-zine Skrufff-E, specialising in stories about sex, drugs, politics and music. Supported by characters including everyone from the Pet Shop Boys to Dave Clarke and Princess Superstar, the free zine goes weekly to thousands of like-minded types, connecting his ideas and music to a worldwide audience every single week. Jonty also produces and presents the Skrufff Show on Ministry Of Sound Radio which is broadcast in Europe every Sunday evening, via Sky Digital TV (channel 0198) and on Ministry?s website.
Jonty also started producing music last year, teaming up with mash-up king IDC to deliver the Metrosexual mix of Futon?s underground club anthem Gay Boy, and is currently working on brand new material and remixes with producers in both London and Berlin.
