A DJ since 1996, Jonboys musical roots began at the age of seven when he picked up the first of what would be many instruments. He was trained on the violin for several years but eventually made his way to piano and percussion lessons as well. While each of these last two instruments had their own appeal, it wasnt until Jonboy discovered electronic musics combination of both that he had found exactly what he was looking for. He burst onto Washington, D.C.s electronic scene in 1998 as a semi-finalist in the famed Fever Battle of the DJs. Although he did not win that competition, the loss only drove him to further perfect what he calls the equal aspects of the art of DJing: technical skills, music selection, and crowd pleasing. He adds, You cant be better at any one; you have to be great at all of them. After relocating to Arizona in 1998, he secured his first residency alongside Markus Schulz, Arizonas most famed and legendary progressive DJ. Since then, Jonboy has shared the DJ booth with a whos who list of DJs, including: Christopher Lawrence, Jimmy Van M, Scott Henry, and Frankie Bones, among many others, and he was chosen as one of Arizonas best club DJs in 2000 by the Phoenix New Times.
