A leading DJ and figure in Australian dance music for over 17 years, John first rose to prominence when he won the DMC Mixing Competition in Victoria twice (1988 & 1989). Playing at Chasers, one of Melbourne€™s first clubs to embrace the emerging house music sound, he built a reputation for getting the house rocking. Vicious, the record label that John co-owns has been at the forefront of the Australian Dance scene since its inception.

John has supported and played alongside many international DJs. In 2004 these included Roger Sanchez, Derrick Carter, Cassius, DJ Sneak, ATFC, DJ Falcon, Richard F, David Morales, Harry Choo Choo, Spencer Parker, Carl Kennedy, Junior Jack and Felix Da Housecat. He also played the main stage at Melbourne’s Summerdayze on New Years Day closing the event in 2004 and 2005 to 26,000+ people. Having embraced mixing, scratching and tricks from his early days as a DJ John can often be seen utilizing CDJ 1000s, decks, FX and accapellas; mixing, cutting and overlaying tracks during his sets.

John was one quarter of the production team behind Blackout whose Gotta Have Hope single was a worldwide club hit. With DJ Andy Van the two have lent their remixing talents to a host of Australian and international artists including remixes for Defected UK & Todd Terrys Sound Design label and artists such as Madison Avenue. Together they mixed A Night Out with John Course and Andy Van, with John also mixing A Night Out with Vicious Grooves in June 2003, The 2004 Ministry Of Sound Annual, One Love Volume 1, the Ministry Sessions Vol 1, The 2005 Ministry Of Sound Annual and most recently Vicious Cuts. John’s collaboration with MrTimothy has seen their Electro Funk Lovers top the Australian dance charts with a stack of remixes in early 2005 and June of this year will see Volume 2 of the Ministry Sessions hit the shelves in Australia.

At the last Australian Dance Music Awards John was voted by the public as Victoria’s Best DJ, won the best compilation award for A Night Out with Vicious Grooves and Vicious won the Best Label award.

John’s current Melbourne residencies are Q Bar Friday Nights & Saturdays at Melbourne’s leading house club One Love. He is constantly in demand for guest spots and plays regularly throughout Australia.
