Stemming from a nomadic family with roots in both Kenya and Jamaica, Jo was brought up in a house two miles from the nearest neighbour in the wilds of northern Scotland.
Her parents moved constantly in her youth, which saw her spending periods in Turkey, UAE, Kuwait, Sri Lanka and Cambodia.
Now based in Birmingham, England, Jo’s debut album Gown quietly received huge acclaim from the UK national press (★★★★ MOJO ★★★★ UNCUT ★★★★ The Independent) and has seen Jo performance on the main stage at TEDGlobal, to over 3 million people live on the BBC World Service and attract a growing audience of 70,000 Facebook fans from as far afield as Singapore and Moscow.
With an incomparable ability to move people live, Jo’s music manages to uniquely Embody both a sense of deep appreciation for the everyday world around us along, with the use of extremely cutting edge technology.
After collaborating with its inventor, Jo has pioneered the use of a new instrument called an Airpiano (www.airpiano.de) in her live work.
