Jini’s musical seeds were sown at the age of eight when she attended a musical instrument open day and consequently began playing the piano followed by the flute at ten years old. Her teachers felt that she had a natural musical talent and throughout her junior and secondary school years, she also had been active and deeply involved in numerous bands and orchestras.
Following this, at the age of 15, she turned to DJing as a hobby, her passion for DJ’ing, was influenced by the genre of music she was listening to at the time which was mainly house and electronic during her GCSES. . She was hooked and had a burning desire to be a female DJ, a rarity in a male dominated field. Friends laughed her parents too, as no one believed she was serious when she disclosed her ambition.
Nevertheless, after saving every penny, she bought a pair of vinyl turntables and set to work on teaching herself to beatmatch using ‘Youtube’ videos plus helpful advice from friends who she began meeting, who were experienced in this area, which lead on to shadowing DJs.
