Chicago has been the jumping ground for many of the most beloved house DJs in the world. But now, recognition is finally being bestowed upon its rich pool of progressive DJs and producers. At the top of this short list is twenty-year veteran DJ Jimmie Page.
Jimmie has been an integral part of the development of Chicago’s progressive scene, which now trail blazes the city’s nightlife. Jimmie’s unique style of progressive & funky house, deck skills, and aggression landed him rotating guest spots at arguably one of Chicago’s first and best underground club- SHELTER, working with the legendary Chicago promoter Dave Medusa. Jimmie’s talents were immediately recognized and soon the offers started rolling in for both residencies and guest spots.
Soon thereafter, there was a wave of nightclub openings in Chicago, and due to his skills, following, connections, and reliability, Jimmie was always the Premier consideration for resident DJ. With his many ensuing residencies and countless guest spots, Jimmie has played a big roll on the development of some of Chicago’s top clubs like Vision, Crobar, Rive Gauche and Transit to name a few. In addition, Jimmie has played next to some of the best DJ/producers the world has to offer like Armin Van Buuren, Mauro Picotto, Carl Cox, Chemical Brothers, George Acosta, Robbie Rivera and the list goes on. Jimmie’s talents have caught the attention of top promoters like PURE, Global Adrenaline, Medusa, A la carte, Sundae, Godskitchen and Now the Ultimate Ultra Music Festival who subsequently recruited him to their teams.
Year of 2001, Jimmie landed one of the most coveted spots in Chicago that of a resident DJ on Chicago’s premier dance radio station (WKIE Energy 92.7/5) where he hosts a five hour show on Friday nights called Clubland Friday Night. Jimmie was one of the first jockeys to introduce international guest DJ’s such as Fatboy Slim, Paul Oakenfold and Ferry Corsten to name a few into an industry traditionally dominated by local talent. Jimmie hasn’t forgot about his local peers though, as he makes room on his show for them as well, cultivating an atmosphere of the best known and up n coming talent alike.
With the end of an era approaching, Energys 4 year running couldn’t handle the pop-culture craze. Somehow Jimmies show had survived. A short time after, Arizonas Dance Station Energy 92.7 & 101.1 had hired a new cutting edge Program Director-Mike Oaks. Immediately being embraced by Mike, Jimmies show had now moved to Phoenix. Taking notice of his resume, the Ultra team had signed him to perform at the Ultra Music Festival 7 in 2005. This accomplished a long time goal. With the continued success of his mix show, Jimmie was invited back to perform at Ultra 9. His dedication towards hard work, consistency and perfection was immediately recognized. Passion for his craft and music was an evident formula of the next chapter. The Ultra organization took notice and recruited Jimmie to become a candidate for the position of Host and PD of their upcoming radio show. Through an exhausting list of highly talented prospects, perseverance and devotion made the difference. Jimmie is now has become a huge part of the Ultra tradition and looking forward to rocking 3 days of Ultra Music Festival 13 in 2011. JP will continue to spread his energy to dance floors and listeners across the world.
