At the age of eighteen, Jan Miller started going to electronic music parties and after-hours in Zurich (Switzerland). The vibes of these events were so inspirational that he wanted to be part of it himself. Not just wanting to go to events as a clubber, he quickly learned the art of DJing and shortly after starting participated in a DJ contest in Freiburg (Germany) in 1998. The success of coming in second place lead to his first bookings at E-Werk (Freiburg). In 2002 and with the name “derFlasher”, international club bookings at Guayas (CH – Bern), Eventhouse (CH – Basel) and Warehouse (CH – Zürich) followed. He soon mesmerised the crowd at the club Eventhouse and Radio-X, a popular Swiss-based Trance radio station, in both of which he was a resident for several years. He also played at other big European radio stations. One thing led to another and further event organisers noticed Jan and his mixing skills, giving him the opportunity to DJ at the famous Techno Giants Party (with Carl Cox) at Universal D.O.G (Germany).
After DJing for several years, he was looking for a new challenge and started producing his own tracks which resulted in a first release (derFlasher – First Flash) (Leon Bolier Remix) on Proxoz Recordings in 2008. Returning from a short DJing break, he decided to change his name to Jan Miller and co-founded the record label Lakeview Records with his friend Michael Jay Parker which will launch in 2012.
He hasn’t stopped since and worked tirelessly on new sounds, rewarding us all with some thrilling tracks waiting to be released in the near future. We can’t wait!
