The first half of 2011 has been impressive for James, with his single “Kalliba” featuring on the legendary BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix by Cream resident Gareth Wyn at the turn of the year, getting signed to the massive Nervous Records in New York City, USA and gigs with Grammy Award Nominee Funkagenda as well as DJing for arguably the biggest independent dance record label in the world, Toolroom Records and their prestigious “Toolroom Knights” with Mark Knight, D.Ramirez and many more.
James launched his DJ career at just 19 years old as a resident for one of the UK’s leading and longest running club venues, the legendary 1,800 capacity Brunel Rooms in Swindon, for 7 years until it eventually closed during 2007. This was the first venue at which BBC Radio 1’s Judge Jules ever played outside of London and hosted legends such as Sasha, Carl Cox, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten and many alike during the clubs long period of success.
Tirelessly working as a club DJ for over 10 years and consistently delivering the highest quality music, James has held multiple residencies during this time, playing regularly for many global brands such as Gatecrasher, Hed Kandi, Fierce Angel, Slinky, Sundissential, Goodgreef, Koolwaters and countless more local events, making him well equipped to perform at any level. The last few years has seen James become lucky enough to play for the legendary BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in 2009 with Pete Tong, Annie Mac, 2ManyDJ’s, Plump DJ’s and Erol Alkan, whilst making various other club and festival appearances alongside DJ’s and Artists such as Riva Starr, D.Ramirez, Mason, Herve, Adam Freeland, DJ Yoda, Stonebridge, Miles Dyson plus many, many more….
2010 was the year James began to release his own music, after locking himself away in the studio for the past few years, he studied a 3 year Music Production Diploma at Access To Music in Bristol achieving triple distinctions, whilst privileged enough to have been taught by Drum & Bass stalwart producer Danny Byrd! During this time one of his productions was picked up by Pete Tong for his 2008 Bedroom Bedlam producer competition. 2010 has resulted in ‘Red Sun’, his recent studio collaboration with Nick Fisher, being signed to one of the biggest dance record labels in the Netherlands, Spinnin’ Records; a single on his own Monster Tunes progressive house imprint, Monster Deep and his debut single entitled ‘Kalliba’, which made the 10 finalists of a Defected Records producer competition, feature on Marco V’s – ‘The Art Of’ mix compilation CD, released in the Netherlands, USA and Australia. So there’s plenty more to come from this future star!
