Random is a word that Grifty McGrift is used to. Whether it would be dropping edIT’s cut-up version of Usher’s Yeah or blending New Order’s Blue Monday out of nowhere, he’s full of surprises.
Griddy got his first decks at the end of high school. Normally a rock kid, he got into hip-hop and turntablism since he was inspired by Q-Bert, the Beat Junkies, & the X-Ecutioners.
As the years progress, he gave up on hip-hop. Jungle became his new love. From there, Griddy spun at house parties & occasionally, les discotheques.
His good ol’ buddy from Detroit introduced him into the world of IDM, minimal techno & tech house. Ever since, he grew addicted to IDM greats such as Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Mu-Ziq, Autechre, Luke Vibert, Jega, Venetian Snares & Bogdan Raczynski and minimal heroes such as Richie Hawtin, Matthew Dear, Ricardo Villalobos, Bruno Pronsato & bloody Kraftwerk.
Most of the time, he spins minimal techno & electro. His true passion lies within spinning music that’s challenging & unique. He also has done specialized sets outside of the EDM genre which include his collection of vintage lounge records, 80s, new wave, no wave & danceable rock music. If you’re looking for something to make your brain or feet dance, Griddy will provide it.
