Biography

Gabriel and Castellon met in the Rotterdam scene and they instantly had a connection and became friends and partners in crime. Together they share the same visions about music and life. These two guys combined make a perfect mix and their goal is to create homemade quality, in their productions as well as their DJ sets!

Gabriel has been playing musical instruments almost his entire life. At the age of ten he started playing the piano and soon picked up the guitar and bass. After a few years he also discovered the possibilities of synthesizers and samplers and learned how to use them in his effort to make house music. Since his first official release at the age of 19 he has been working for various record labels, as a full time producer for Mid-town and at various gigs in the Rotterdam scene. Gabriel also won the Beatport Tenaglia & Celeda – Music Is The Answer remix competition in 2008 and was handpicked by Danny Tenaglia out of 600 contestants.

Influenced by the Rotterdam, Chicago and Detroit house sound, Castellon started spinning in 1999 and made his first appearances in local bars shortly after that. Due to his good taste in house music he was offered a job at the legendary Basic Beat recordings, which was the epic centre of DJ talents in Holland. His good ear and judgment for quality dance music didn’t go unnoticed and he started to perform at bigger venues like Las Palmas, Nighttown, Now&Wow, Off-Corso and many more.

After meeting up in Rotterdam, the Dutch duo started producing and spinning together in 2007. They spent most of their time in the studio, producing and cooking up new tunes until they released their first track “Afrodisium / Mama Juana” in 2008. Their second EP “Flamous / Flotze” soon followed and climbed the Beatport DJ charts as well as receiving a large amount of playtime from renowned DJs like Rodger Sanchez and Kid Massive.

A breakthrough in their career was the track “Shut your Eyes”, which was released in June of 2009. It reached the Slam Top 30 and the Dance Charts. It turned into a major club hit as well as hitting day rotations on almost all the major radio stations.

Gabriel & Castellon churn out one massive tune after the other; they have released on labels such as Stealth records, Prok & Fitch’s label Floorplay, Audiodamage Records, Star 69, Ministry of Sound, N.E.W.S, Sneakerz Music, Little Mountain, Seamless Twelves (sublabel of Bargrooves), Adapt Records, and on their current home base Selekted Music. Their tracks are heavily supported by elite DJ’s as Roger Sanchez, Fedde Le Grand, Kid Massive, Axwell, Prok & Fitch, Paul Van Dyk, Funkerman, René Amesz, Roog (Hardsoul), Lucien Foort, Peter Gelderblom, Gene Farris, Austin Leeds, and many more.

Gabriel & Castellon can look back at a series of impressive performances and gigs on an international level. They have played many Festivals like Pleasure Island, Dance Parade Rotterdam, and the Emporium Festival. Coallition Floorplay (Brighton, UK), Martina Club (Ibiza), Plastik Funk Label Night (Germany) and Club Matrix (Crete) are just a few of the impressive appearances made in the last two years. They have many projects lined up for the future; many remix requests from international artists are in the making and the new track “Tu Bimba” is due to be released soon.

In their relatively short but strong career, this duo rapidly created their own distinctive trademark sound: bouncy, chunky, melodic, crunked out house music with balls. The two keep on doing the tricks on the global dance floors, creating an ever growing fan base worldwide amongst both colleague producers and clubbers with every production they make.
