2015 started with a bang when Elephant was released. Elephant got support every big player in the scene, aswell as radio play and 1 million streams through different channels. Elephant was followed up by remixes for Steve Aoki, OMVR, G-eazy, Chris Lie and Maya Vik, paving the way for two new original tracks this summer, ‘Rapture’ (Mad Decent) and ‘Flux’ (Dim Mak), which is a step in the ever evolving sound of Funkin Matt.
2014 featured many highlights for Funkin Matt. Offical remix for Mariah Carey, MAD featured on a-list videogame ‘The Crew’, Singles and EP’s on labels like Musical Freedom, Ultra, Fool’s Gold and Fjordin. His releases we’re supported by Fatboy Slim, Tiesto, Oliver Heldens, Don Diablo, Steve Aoki, A Trak, Diplo etc. Further ’Let’s Go Deep’ featuring Chris Lie was B-listed on National radio (P3) and he did a guest mix for Tiesto’s show on BBC 1.
Through the 2013 Funkin Matt has done EP’s on Fool’s Gold, Mad Decent, Mixmash and Fjordin. His EP “I Wish” was supported by everybody from Tiesto to Chemical Brothers. He also released The Sound of Funkin Matt album and had a guest mix on Diplo & Friends on BBC1.
Funkin Matt, 27 years old resides in Oslo, Norway. He was born in Tonsberg, Norway, and started producing music at the age of 12. After a couple of various releases on various aliases from the age of 16-20 he took the name Funkin Matt and started focusing on perfecting his sound. In 2007 he was signed to Samsobeats and had his first club hit in Holland with his remix of Gregor Salto’s track Bouncing Harbour. After being on Samsobeats for 3 years and releasing multiple EP’s he decided on starting his own label Fjordin in collaboration with Gregor Salto in late 2010. Then in 2012 “I Wish” was made and Matt started working with labels like Fool’s Gold, Mixmash, Mad Decent and did a host of remixes for various artists.
