Exacta is one of New York’s hottest rising talents, already making a name for himself as a heavy-hitter in the genre of House music. This rising star discovered his love for music as a young child listening to records in his basement in Queens, New York. His participation as a drummer in his junior high school’s jazz band reinforced Exacta’s appreciation for music and particularly soul, further fueling his desire to create his own original music one day. Eventually, Exacta replaced his drums for turntables, and evolved into a hip-hop DJ, gracing the decks at just about every NYC hotspot and for celebrities such as Mariah Carey, Heidi Klum, and P Diddy. After refining his turntable skills, Exacta’s musical style transitioned once again – this time from hip-hop to house. He quickly gained notoriety as he became one of the most upfront house DJs, known for his sexy, underground style of house music. Exacta has played his unique trademarked sound alongside the likes of Erick Morillo, Todd Terry, David Guetta, Mark Knight, Funkagenda, Pete Tong, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, & Armand Van Helden. Out of the New York dance scene that he calls home and holds his Pacha residency, Exacta has risen to global prominence by spinning at some of the worlds top music driven venues including Pacha (NYC), Cielo (NYC), Amnesia (Ibiza), Godskitchen (UK), Space (Miami), Prive (Hungary), Bon Bon (Shanghai), and Guvernment (Toronto). His musical prowess is constantly pushing the envelope, making dance floors sweat from his unique blend of house and style, dropping tracks that few would dare to play one after the other. Exacta’s reputation for having his finger on the pulse of the dance music community preceded him and his ever evolving talent and ear for house music is what pushes him upward at such an eye opening pace.
Exacta’s production career was fortunate enough to begin by working with world-renowned producer DJ Premier at D&D Recording Studios. However, it was in learning the business of house music when working for London/FFRR Records (1993-1994) where Exacta began to envision that one day he would be an artist in dance music. Ten years later in 2004 his premonition proved accurate as Exacta was signed as an artist by Erick Morillo to one of the most renowned record labels on the house scene, Subliminal Records. His first three original productions, ‘The Beat Inside You,’ ‘Flippin,’ and ‘Shake My Soul’ would give the world an introduction to Exacta and his unique style and originality.
During the summer of 2006, Roger Sanchez broke Exacta’s vocal remake of the classic ‘Pride (A Deeper Love)’ on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Consequently, an overnight club killer was born, and it became apparent that Exacta was officially a rising talent in the industry. This became clearer with the releases of ‘Set Me Free’ and ‘You Keep Calling Me,’ tracks that set dance floors on fire and hit music charts across the world. Exacta was able to parlay his buzz into remixing for the likes of Nelly Furtado and Paris Hilton, showcasing his diverse background and production range.
His 2007 offerings – ‘Stuck On Your Love’ and ‘Lost In Music’ – received rave reviews ,lending buzz to Exacta’s guest mixes on Release Yourself, Justmusic.fm, Soulgood, and XM Radio.
With the incredible buzz on his new tracks “Turn Me On” “Soul Survivor” “Frank Sinatra” and “Sweat” and his new global brand, Double Frequency, the name Exacta is one you will be hearing often in the music scene worldwide.
