I became interested in turntables and event promotion while attending raves and working at Detroit’s State Theater, Saint Andrews Hall and the legendary after-hours Red Door in the early 1990’s.
I then got a job at a little underground record store called Motunes in Ferndale, where I spent many hours attempting to beat match on a pair of old belt-driven Technics when there were no customers.
In the late 90’s, I helped co-found the scene changing Sunday night weekly event Cute Little House at Velvet Lounge in Pontiac, Michigan. I then moved onto Playhouse at The Magic Bag in Ferndale. Low and and a Drum & Bass night called Step at Labyrinth, Detroit. Intermissions with the band Jazzhead on Mondays turned into a weekly Wednesday experimental night at 5th Avenue in Royal Oak. Which opened the door for my two and a half year residency at Hamtramck’s, Lush Lounge, every Friday. I then had a weekly at the Groove Room in Royal Oak. And finally, my last residency was an ambient/down-tempo weekly at the Buddha Lounge in Detroit.
I have worked for record labels Intui-Solar and Interdimensional Transmissions. I am one of the founders of the Detroit Bachelor DJs (DBDJS) and the event promotions company bEDO: rESEARCH & dEVELOPMENT.
