Dr D’s real interest in mixing was first sparked after attending Splash (an outdoor festival event) in early 2004. Later on that year, under the watchful eye of DJ Speedy, he graduated from Retro music dj school as the best student to leave this school yet.
Dr D enjoys playing all forms of trance as well as elctrofunk. From euphoric and uplifting, to hard trance with a subtle hint of hard style, blending tunes for the perfect journey of the soul. His electrofunk is a mixture of driving bass lines and uplifting melodies with occasional heavenly vocals. His general rule of thumb is happy, hard bass lines with awesome builds and massive bass drops that keeps dance
floors moving. Dr D brings loads of energy to his sets, which is highly contagious, bringing the best out of the party goers.
Playing music is like painting a picture. It starts off with colours and ideas that blend and flow and when its finished, you have a beautiful image. I want to people to be left with an awesome image when they have listened to me play. And it must always be over too soon!
After playing for only 3 months, Denver made the finals of the first Time Out/Lectrodektus dj competition. Since then he has made numerous appearances at Time Out lounge for both open deck evenings as well as private functions. He has worked hard at taking any opportunity that presents itself to him and has been fortunate enough to play alongside the likes of DJ Speedy, Anthon Nathrass, Grim Brothers, Eddie Virgo, Lachlan Doolan and more
He won the second Lectrodectus dj competition and was a finalist in both the SYLD and Gemini DJ competitions in 2006/2007.
Dr D is also part of the HBR (Hard Beatz Research) crew which puts on hard dance events throughout the year.
His vision is to be playing open air festival type events in the near future.
