Born in Sofia, the capitol of Bulgaria, in 1983, Vladimir Novkoff was introduced into music by his mother, who was a sound engineer. At 15, his interest grew when he started getting into the rave scene and bought his first decks, Newmark Turntables. Since he was too young to play at any of the clubs he started his career spinning at house parties until he moved to the United States with his family. Here in Los Angeles he continued playing in the house party circuit throughout his school years at Burbank High. After a short hiatus due to private issues he moved to Dallas, Texas at the age of 21 and played at the nightclub, DNA. A year later he returned to Los Angeles with a stronger passion for electronic music, a renewed dedication to making a career for himself and a switch from turntables to Digital Mixing. His first break into the LA music scene was with DJ Serafin who gave him a residency at the Lighthouse in Redondo Beach every Wednesday. From there his career grew with two residencies in Hollywood, one at Vanguard on Fridays, the second at Hollys West. Realizing that there was a market for private Bulgarian parties, Vladimir, more affectionately known as Vlady, began promoting his own Balkan bashes, which led to exclusive Secret mansion parties. Ready to move away from the private parties DJ Dirigenta, which is Bulgarian for conductor, returned to Hollywood to play at such venues as Spider Club, Basque, Cabana Club, Josephs and many more. He also continued with the Balkan scene even promoting and running his own party with Balthazar from Bulgaria at Josephs. Nowadays, you can find Dirigenta at such Hollywood venues as Social, Highlands, Sugar, Ritual, Mood, Kress, Cabana, Area, Opera and Nacional, to name a few. He also continues with his Balkan Bashes, teaming up with Myhell Entertainment. When he’s not DJing, you can find Vlady bbqing somewhere, riding his motorcycle or at his studio "KiKi Productions in North Hollywood where he works on his beats
