Desy Balmer runs Nice & Nasty records and Dublin Xpress recordings – both Irish based electronica and dance music labels. Nice & Nasty is also a club promoter and the artist roster includes the creme de la creme of Irish acts Derek Carr, T-Polar, Tr-One, The Parallel, Rob GLennon, Brian Taaffe, Jay Riordan, Thatboytim, Mark O’Sullivan, Chymera and a host of international friends, including Detroit’s Terrence Dixon, Orlando Voorn, Itokim, Katsuhiko, Marco Bernardi and more.
As a DJ Desy has toured with the Prodigy (Ireland 92-95), wrote for BBM, Eternity, Slick-DJ, Core, M8 and edited and published Hold it Down (magazine).
Outside Ireland Desy has played in Antwerp, Belgium; Cologne, Germany; Glasgow, Elgin and Stirling, Scotland; Miami and Boca Raton, Florida USA; and, Toronto, Canada.
Over the past 15 years he has played alongside Carl Cox, Garnier, Billy Nasty, Sven Vath, Dave Clarke, Terry Francis, Nick Warren, Alex Smoke, Richie Hawtin, John Aquaviva, Matthew Bushwacka, Fabio Paras, Colin Dale and many, many more.
There are few venues in Ireland he hasn’t played; however he is best known for residencies and regular guest work at Charlie Heggartys, Bangor; The Brunswick Club and Thompson’s, Belfast, and The Kitchen, Mean Fiddler and temple Bar Music Centre and The Hub Dublin.
