Biography

Dawn Raid is a Jungle/Drum and Bass artist collective based in the UK’s city of Manchester, which is famed throughout the world for its vibrant and diverse music culture. Dawn Raid was formed in 2006 and in 2007 saw their first exposure as a result of their debut release ‘Try to Believe’ on the Liverpool based label Raw Recordings. In addition to this they also gained a place on DJ Sappo’s Advisory Mix-tape ‘Mission Impossible’ with their remix of his track ‘Sky’.

Production and live performances continued to grow for the collective around the North West of the UK which, included well received sets at the legendary Warehouse project and APE at the Manchester Apollo along with the well -renowned Hit + Run, Religion and Ohmygod club nights based in the city. Dawn Raid’s production continued to gain interest with regular plays on BBC Radio 1Xtra from Sappo, L-Double, Bailey and Crissy Cris with their tracks also creeping onto BBC Radio 1 in sets hosted by Nihal and more recently Ras Kwame.

Dawn Raid has worked with well respected artists such as Garage/Dub-step pioneer Zed Bias and Peter Bouncer of ‘Junglist’ and ‘Raving I’m Raving’ fame. They have also rdone remix work for Knowledge and Wisdom and Dj Sappo on his Advisory imprint.

Dawn Raid’s style of DJ set is simply referred to as ‘Jungle’ as all the artists in the collective have an shared experience in DJ/MC Performance and production spanning the past 15 years, combined with a passion for the music and scene since it’s birth in the early 90s. Dawn Raid always deliver productions and live performances that represent the spectrum of Jungle/DnB from its beginnings to the present day. They do not limit themselves to current trends and always encompass Jungle/DnB in its many forms from deep and rolling to big tear out tracks, with strong references to the core elements and influences of the music.
