Dave Zee

Madrid, Spain

House, Trance

He’s been around for a while…Born David Carvajal in the spanish DC, Dave started listening to music by the age of 6. That’s common, but when your favourites at the age of 6 go from Earth, Wind & Fire to The Alan Parsons Project, then there could be a genius on board…Former music journalist, computer programmer and considered an expert on all kind of electronic music stuff, Dave Zee started listening to mix tapes and vinyls in the early ’80’s, and was soon impressed by 808 State, New Order, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Softcell and many more. Manchester was on fire, and Dave was very glad about it…In school days and secondary school, electronic music was a part of his life, and so then, after acid house arrival and explosion of eurobeats, Dave finally grew as a potential musician.Even if he’s not a graduate in music studies, he started to fall in love with computers and machines at the 20 something decade of his life, so he started visiting clubs and attempting to see live shows starring monsters like Armand Van Helden, Paul Van Dyk, Richie Hawtin or Carl Cox… that transformed him into a rare and eclectic guy, umpredictable and always on the run to get the latest influences. In 1996 he started DJing, thanks to master Sampleking, who teached him in the world of turntables.Even if he started DJing all types of trance and progressive vibes, soon he turned ‘housy’, but trying to preservate the mood of the strongest drums, that always loved.Nowadays, he’s always on permanent tour with Sampleking, and this dynamic duo have proven their value in the best venues and festivals, like Partydance, in front of half a million people…“I’ll try to learn something every day of my life, because I would like to be remembered like the one who never stopped investigating”, he says, and that makes you an idea of the kind of DJ he is.Some music published, like Dave Zee or with another aliases (Drunkheadz, Japo), some memorable live acts, and a growing career on the media, will see one day the reward for his big efforts…He’s currently preparing Intelligent Tour ‘06 with partner Sampleking, and the support of Intel Technologies, Toshiba and many more, to start in october. Also in the air every monday to friday with radio show ’ClubAtlantic’ at Radio Internet (23:00 GMT+1 Madrid time), while managing the contents on satellite TV channel 40TV Spain…He has also interviewed the best known DJ’s and played with most of them (Quicksilver, Chus & Ceballos, Avant Garde, Carl Cox, John Acquaviva, Felix Da Housecat, Vitalic, Marco Bayley, Phil Hartnoll, Firscherspooner, Derrick May…) at the best places, from Pacha Ibiza to Rimmel (Mexico).“I’ll be there, maybe not at the top, but always trying to improve my skills, performance and knowledge of music…”.
