If you love the music, the music will love you too. This is how Critical Damage describe their relation with the art which has grown increasingly over the years and will never stop. It all starts in their early teens when they become regular visitors to many parties and festivals in Bulgaria.
During this time of development Critical Damage found their place in between the underground sound of techno, minimal and tech house influenced by labels such as Cocoon, M-nus, Drumcode, Gigolo, Soma, Kompakt etc. Mostly concentrated on the darker, energetic performance involving different genres, Critical Damage pay attention to the whole musical creativity, intuitive selection and experimentation.
An alias of two childhood friends gives the beginning of the DJ and production duo founded in 2010 by Viktor aka WANTED and ivaylo. Collaborative talents combined to perform, make and release music under the name of Critical Damage. Since then music is no more simply a hobby. They have spent more time in increasing their individual skills, producing and creating their own style, eagerly looking for something new, resulting in an innovation and originality. Critical Damage have always tried to be more open-minded technically and musically, creating new experiences and emotions into sound.
In 2007 Viktor finds his place in London in the search of better professional opportunities. With more than 10 years spent in a Bulgarian music school, playing a traditional folklore string instrument, naturally led by the need of experimenting and creating new sounds, he starts his own production in 2008. Meanwhile, Ivaylo spends more time organising own events, radio broadcasting and promoting. As soon as he graduates high-school Ivaylo makes his first steps into the music industry. Concurrently he started a DJ course at one of the leading booking agencies in Bulgaria, E-booking. In 2012 Ivaylo also moves to London where he starts his professional musical education at Point Blank Music School studying music production and sound engineering.
The debut release of Critical Damage is in 2012 for Percent Records, a remix of the original track ‘’The Devil is the DJ’’ by the label owners Kozin and Escodero. Later in 2012 Critical Damage come up with their first events on the London’s underground scene: ‘Flourish Sound’ presented as an experimental Live and DJ elaboration mainly directed to tech and minimal sound supported by different artistic co-operations and ‘Analog’ the more underground, dark with a warm sense, techno minimal side of the duo. This marks the beginning of self-organised parties with own vision, style and influential energy.
Uncommon, uniqueness and eccentricity perfectly define Critical Damage.
