Gordon Coutts, from Newtownards in Northern Ireland, has been DJing since 1998 when he attended a DJ summer school in Bangor, taken by the Boom Boom Room resident at the time, Cliff McKay. In 1999 he began playing at various local clubs such as Nixx in Newtownards, the Outer Limits in Belfast and the Bryansburn in Bangor, along with providing several guest DJ mixes for local radio stations Kiss FM and Energy 106.
In 2001 Gordon secured his first residency at the Knightsbridge in Newtownards, and remained one of the residents until the club closed in May 2003, as well as running several nights himself. In the summer of 2002 Gordon played his first gigs abroad, in the clubbing resort of Faliraki in Rhodes.
Since the closure of the Knightsbridge in May of 2003, Gordon went on to a residency in another nightclub in Newtownards, lasting several months and from there guested in Charlies in Carrickfergus, where he then received another short residency, as well as providing several guest DJ mixes for another local radio station, Cool FM.
At present he is involved with running the Replay trance nights in Bangor, where he has recently played alongside the likes of Modelle (Nukleuz) and Gleave Dobbin (Coast2Coast), and is also a member of DFR promotions.
Recently, he has progressed through a Keymix workshop, one of Northern Ireland’s Premier coaching courses, backed by Fergie from Radio1 and including many top name local DJs and promoters, and one one of only several DJs selected to play at Club Matrix in Dungannon, one of the biggest clubs in the country, run by the same people who run the Planet Love festivals.
Gordons main style is a mixture of trance, both commercial and hard, as well as a touch of hard house and techno, and he is also willing to venture into commercial house for warm-up sets as well. Since he began DJing in clubs, he has proved able to adapt his style to fit many different sorts of venues and is very open minded about his style of music.
