Christos Beatport

Biography

Christos is one of the U.S.’ pioneer after-hours DJs. He started spinning records at the age of 13. A New York native, he was inspired by the early 90’s sound of DJs Junior Vasquez and Danny Tennaglia. After moving to Boston, where the nightlife shuts down at 2:00am, Christos along with partner Buster, started throwing after-hours warehouse parties downtown. As buzz for the parties grew, Christos was offered a residency at “Cybersounds”, the first-ever live mixing electronic show on Boston’s biggest radio station, WBCN. Weekly guests included The Crystal Method, B.T., Felix Da Housecat and Moby. The show was a massive success and helped expose electronic acts to mainstream radio. Christos then moved to a bigger market, Los Angeles, another city with a strictly enforced 2:00am curfew. Within two years Christos was spinning for L.A.’s top promoters and watched as the city’s after-hours scene became one of the best in the country. Two of his residencies were with L.A.’s longest running after-hours, Rise and After Hour Power. Some of Christos’ highlights from last year were gigs in Beijing, China and Space, Miami. Christos is driven by the sexy and dark sound of the New York underground. He currently resides in the big apple where his focus is on producing original material.
