Having achieved Grade 5 trumpet by the age of 9 Chris always had an ear for music. Fast-forward 6 years and he found himself on his friends decks. He was immediately hooked and within a year was a ‘warm-up’ DJ in his hometown of Halifax, West Yorkshire. Chris has never looked back since and has held residencies and had guest appearances at clubs in most of the major towns and cities in England and has also had season long residencies in Europe. He has played alongside DJs such as Rob Tissera, Micky Slim, The Trophy Twins, Agnelli & Nelson, A J Gibson, Paul Dunne, Graeme Park, Alistair Whitehead, Graham Gold, Lisa Lashes, Andi Durrant (Riley & Durrant), Paul Taylor and Tony Walker.
In the past Chris has played for brands such as Dirty Little Funkers, and more recently (2010) Gatecrasher and Kissdafunk and also juggles residencies at Voudou, Foundry and Deja Vu (Barnsley, South Yorkshire) whilst regularly playing with club nights Funkydory and Glasshouse and is now a resident for legendary club night Love To be… which is owned and run by Tony Walker.
Due to Chris’ vast experience he can adapt to any given situation and play a wide range of musical styles from speed garage to trance but his love is and ,always has been, House in all its forms.
When asked what was next for the 32 year old he says “The next 12 months you are going to hear a great deal about Chris Lawlor. I’m going to be pulling out all the stops and I am also turning my hand to production”.
It looks like Chris is going to be hot on everyone’s lips in 2010. So in the words of Chris….. GET READY!!!!!
