Chris Cortez’s passion for electronic dance music took hold of him during the 1990s. Although Trance was the musical king in his home of the Netherlands, Chris saw his sound developing from all walks of EDM: Trance, Progressive, House, as well as the harder sounds of dance music. Being chained to a single genre wasn’t for him. Instead, Chris created his own sound – A signature that would come to be known as the “Future Sound of Trance”

Chris Cortez has graced club DJ booths with his presence throughout The Netherlands, Germany, U.K., Belgium, Jordan, Thailand, Greece, and Italy. Besides being resident artist at both Trance Nation (NL) and Gatecrasher Amsterdam (NL), Chris’s appearances include sets at Gatecrasher Birmingham (UK), Ultrasonic Festival (UKR), City Parade (BE), Q Base (DE), Emporium (NL), and four editions of the world-famous Dance Valley (NL), among many others.

For over a decade, Chris has been supporting alongside the world’s most respected artists. From festivals to club nights, Chris Cortez has shared the stage with Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Sander Van Doorn, Judge Jules, UMEK, Eddie Halliwell, Marco V, Marcel Woods, and John Dahlbäck, to name but a few.

In 2009 Chris found himself going deeper into production, eventually releasing the EP ‘FSOT (Future Sound of Trance)’. In 2010 Chris signed to Dutch label Fektive Records, releasing ‘Asha’ and ‘Blackwaltz’. Additionally, Chris was also given compilation (Submerge Vol. 5) and remix (Knock on Wood, Route 99) duties. During his time at Fektive, BBC Radio 1 took notice of his releases, picking them up. The result – his first Beatport Top 20 ranking.

After the demise of Fektive in 2011, Chris made the leap over to UK-based Fraction Records. This move was followed by the release of floor fillers such as ‘Slipstream’, ‘Loveless, and ‘Down Under’. It was also upon his move to Fraction that Chris saw his productions featured on global radio shows including Armin van Buuren’s A State of Trance, Markus Schulzs Global DJ Broadcast, and Paul Van Dyks VONYC Sessions. In 2012 Chris released ‘Playbox’ on another well-known UK-based label, Good Grief Digital, but soon thereafter returned to Fraction Records, where he remains to this day.

2014 is poised to be a key year for Chris’s career. Requests from all corners of the world are rolling in. The ‘Next Level’ is here – With plenty of gigs and releases in the pipeline, be sure to stay tuned in on Social Media or via his website. Time flies by fast, but anytime or anyplace, Chris Cortez is ready to rock!
