This 27-year-old DJ and producer from Tuzla made his first contact with electronic music in 1996. At first he played rough techno beats inspired by the music of Jeff Mills. Ever since the end of the latest war in Bosnia he has been actively involved in the development of techno scene of Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the same time he has been experimenting with techno music and producing it. His first recording was issued in January 2000 for the Djax Up Records. Many more followed, signed by either his nickname Chipi or his real name Selmir. He has been regarded lately as one of the most representative Bosnian producers and many expect his reputation will rise in the near future. The success of his recordings speaks for itself. In addition, a couple of them appeared as compilations recorded with many other DJs from all over Europe. On the other hand, he has concentrated more of his study of techno patterns. His recordings already carry some well-known, respected labels. Besides producing music, Chipi spends a lot of time playing it and taking part in numerous music events ( his highlights for 2003 include his appearance at EXIT festival in Serbia & Montenegro, which is the biggest festival in Eastern Europe ), and also residence-appearance on LOOP-fest, the bigest techno festival in Bosnia. He is shaking the techno scene of Tuzla, together with his friend, DJ Black Acid, whom he helps organize parties and promote techno music, where they share decks with big names of the techno world, such as: Chris Liebing, Space DJ’z, Dave Clark, Jel Ford, Umek, Valentino Kanzyani, CraigWalsh, Gaetano Parisio, DJ Rush etc. They are the owners of “Fobia” – DJ union that gathers the best techno DJs of B&H who came together to create the cult of the techno scene in Tuzla., as long start his own project “C-electronics”, which is concept of different kind of electronic music, firstable in production, and also cooperation with other well known producer’s, around the globe. With time his sense of techno music has become keener, so that carefully chosen vinyls create a different story each time. He plays the funky techno, as well – the music which has its own soul. It must be emphasized in the end that this 3-deck DJ and producer is a real representative of his country, a new hope and an artist from the war-torn B&H who is spreading techno worldwide.
