DJ Caustic was born in Miami, Florida on March 30, 1977. He started listening to old vinyl on his parents record player at a very early age. When he was four years old he moved with his parents to Atlanta, Georgia. This was where he spent the next twenty years of his life.
Always a fan and connoisseur of all genres, he quickly realized that music was more than a form of entertainment, it was a method of expression. While still in elementary school he received his first guitar as a birthday present. As he grew older he tried to form multiple bands, but in the end he could never find anyone whose musical interests matched his own. After attending his first rave he quickly realized his calling as a musician. He found a form of music that moved him more than anything else he had ever heard…electronica. He studied the different styles of this new genre and found himself particularly impressed with breaks. Soon after this, he purchased his first pair of turntables. After playing many house parties and developing an instinctive feel for the music, he was ready to play for the masses. During his residency at The Globe Theater in Atlanta, he began to hang out with one of his old friends, Nic Beidel, who shortly thereafter sparked his interest in producing. The two of them decided their styles worked well together and began writing their first collaborative track as Caustic & Flux.
After working together for over a year and building a library of tracks, they decided to move to Orlando, Florida, the breakbeat capitol of the world, and the rest is history.
