Biography

Cathy Battistessa is fast becoming one of the most unique and sought after song-writers and recording artists in the UK today, having worked with some of the most influential artists & producers across the genres of House Music, Garage, Electronica, Pop, Chillout and Lounge.

Following outstanding success in the underground dance scene during the last 15 years, Cathy Battistessa has been recognised internationally as ‘The Voice of Cafe del Mar’ although she is clearly much more than that. Writing and performing the memorable chillout songs, ‘More Than Ever People’, ‘Oh Home’, ‘Shine’, ‘Speck Of Gold’ and ‘Riva’ was just the start of what is currently a highly accomplished, heavy-weight song-writing career within the music industry.

Cathy has performed, collaborated, written and composed with numerous innovative producers, writers, musicians and artists across the world including Valgier Siggurson (Bjork), Rob da Bank (BBC Radio / Bestival / Sunday Best), Xpress2, Stephane Pompougnac (Hotel Costes), Jose Padilla (CDM) Paco Fernandez (Ibiza), Knee Deep (Lovebirds), Chris Coco (BBC Radio), Slow Pulse (OMM Sounds Ibiza) and Blank & Jones. In 2000 Cathy co-wrote ‘A Little Bit Of Luck’ with DJ Luck & MC Neat, propelling her into the Pop Charts and securing her first Top 10 UK hit!

Many of her classic lounge, chilled & dance floor tracks are featured on an endless luxury compilation albums such as, Café Del Mar, Defected, Hed Kandi, Café Mambo, Hotel Costes, Blue Bar, Buddha Bar, Ministry of Sound, Peppermint Jam, React, Sunday Best Recordings and Universal Music .. an endless list now.

2009

Cathy received an honoury request to sing for H.H the Dalai Lama at the Commerzbank Arena, Frankfurt, Germany. Select artists were invited to perform for his birthday celebration and the proceeds raised money for the ‘Free Tibet Campaign’. This year Cathy also was invited to support Fatboy Slim on his tour in Dubai for Live Nation & MTV! She has also seen continued success co-writing with Steve Miller (Afterlife) including ‘Speck Of Gold’, ‘Shine’ and ‘Let it Go’ from 2009’s ‘Electrosensitive’ album. In the same year, Cathy also co-wrote ‘All About Love’ with Knee Deep which held top position in the Dance Charts.

2010

New release ‘Miracle Man’ with Blank & Jones (SoundColours) – a deeply evocative soulful summer house sizzler – made huge waves in the clubs and charts across Europe and the remix of the Octave One classic, ‘Black Water’ Grant Nelson feat. Cathy Battistessa (Swing City) kicked off straight in at No.1 Traxsource Charts on promo alone and has ignited Cathy’s fan-base in USA and Canada giving her well deserved respect for not only her vocal recordings but her vocal arrangements and remix writing innovation.

2011

Cathy hooked up with of Defected’s DJ / Producers, Charles Webster to write & produce the deeply emotive new release, ‘I Am The Sun’ (Miso Records) yet another co-write that showcases Cathy’s spiritual lyrics & vocal performance. This summer she held a residency at the recently launched ‘finca am’ party series in Ibiza and performed several shows on the local radio stations Ibiza Global Radio and Ibiza Sonica Radio. At the same time she released two of her most acclaimed Chill Out classics as well as the brand new ‘Many Steps’, another Dub/Reggae influenced collaboration with Slow Pulse on the 2CD/DVD compilation ‘finca am – Electronica Balear’.

2012

Three New releases launched, all written by Cathy: ‘Calling‘ licensed to the prestigious Porsche Limited Edition Compilation – a sublime, emotive and ‘ethereal lounge‘ production on this from James Bright (LUX) -, ‘Une Nouvelle Humanite’ (Sony House Afrika) – a Soulful Afro-Deep House EP, including the Peng Mix, The Rurals Mix and Da Capo’s Touch Mix. ‘Happiness‘ (SoundColours GMBH) – another great collaberation with Blank & Jones – which included Remixes by Miguel Migs and Franco De Mulero.

2013

Cathy was invited to perform and co-write an EP for the prestigious Murano Glass Art project in Venice, ‘Glasstress‘. She has written & co-written five songs for this EP due for release 2014. The event exhibits at La Bienalle, Venice and includes cutting edge Fine Art Murano Glass Installations created by such extraordinary artists as Vivienne Westwood, Tracy Emin, Damien Hurst and the legendary NYC producer, artist and rapper, Pharrell Williams. Cathy was also booked for several private events and season openings in Ibiza this summer including an exclusive performance at the Cafè Del Mar’s 33rd Anniversary event in June 2013 where she showcased new releases beside the Dj’s Bruno (From Ibiza) and DJ Mark Knight .

Cathy is currently involved in a conceptual music & arts project called, ‘finca am‘ which is rooted in the true authentic Ibiza spirit, founded by a Balearic collective made up of OMMS Ibiza – the island’s first record label, Producers, DJs, Musicians and Artists. ‘finca am’ run a weekly Friday residency at Grial, (ibiza) and every tuesday they host they’re own radio show on Ibiza Global Radio.

Over the last few years she has been writing and recording numerous heartfelt songs for her upcoming debut artist album, which is currently in the final production phase and soon to be released.
