One year before the turn of the millennium, as nineties grunge was overlooked by spinning vinyl, this boy put down his Fender and turned his musical talent to the turntables. As his music taste progressed, he waved farewell to his grunge band and followed his ambitions into the world of DJing. This was the beginning of DJ Caspar.
After 3 years of playing early progressive trance on the party circuit, he secured himself a residency in TNT, Lloret de Mar, Spain, for the summer season. This was the break that Caspar needed to get his spinning talent and crowd pleasing ability noticed.
When the summer sun had gone to sleep, Caspar took to the road again. This time on a student exchange to South Africa for 3 months. It was here, after a brief try-out on the decks, that he was offered a residency in Mystic. A renowned club in the town of ‘Bloemfontein’ (Fountain of Flowers). Following this Caspar was then asked to play a guest set in Mystics’ sister club in the heart of Cape town, where he shook the dance floor in the coolest city in South Africa.
When the sun over Europe woke up Caspar took on his biggest challenge yet – the Ibizan summer. He did not disappoint. With sets in Base Bar, host to the infamous Hed Kandi, and a residency in Las Dalias (The Hippy Garden), Caspar took his hard wax to the terraces and chilled out the crowds with his smooth mix of lounge and vocal house.
It was then only a matter of time before Caspar, also a snowboarding instructor, took to the slopes with his record bag in tow. First in clubs in Italy and France but like many boarders he wanted to taste the powder of Canada. Luckily he got to know DJ Danny Taylor in Ibiza, a true music lover and good friend now. He invited Caspar to play in his club in Vancouver. After one try out gig a three-month residency was secured at VIVA in Richmond. The buzz of the after-slope party vibe had him hooked and Caspar was soon snapped up to play a second residency at Garibaldi GLC a big house and lounge club in Whistler, the famous resort of Canada, and only 2 hours away of his basis in Vancouver. After one month he skipped between Viva, Vancouver to GLC and TommyAfricas in Whistler every week. What a winter!
Been around the world with his record bags, the boy still has his heart in his home country of Belgium, where Caspar has established himself as a music making friendly ghost that you must see. He has played the last three Belgium Love Parades, 2 gigs driving on a truck and one as the opening act on the opening stage on 2005s edition!
He is now making his name as resident Dj and one of the driving forces behind Eargasm. Underground parties with high quality psychedelic and progressive Madness. Last summer saw a blinding set at the magic sundown of their Eargasm Open Air Festival.
Staying true to his intimate party roots Caspar plays at the Intro Club Nights, Monthly in his hometown of Leuven and on parties throughout the whole country. 2007 is the year that it became even more international with a 1 month guest residency in Ministry of Sound Taipei. This was part of his Asia tour where he did 3 other gigs in Japan together with dj Frederik of Global Underground signed duo Pako&Frederik.
Caspar is now focusing on producing his own music at his home studio, the creation of a new vibe and Sound. But his biggest aim and ambition – To spread the Smile of sound; to let people Lose themselves in music, to Merge with his beat, Run with the rhythm and Let go….
