Carl Kennedy is one New York’s up and coming dj’s following in the steps of Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo in the world of house music. Born in England in 1976 to a dj Father Carl first started playing around with turntables and music as early as 7 years of age. Traveling with his Father to mobile shows watching and learning his Father work. The relocation from Birmingham England to Brooklyn New York in the late nineties has proved to be a successful venture. Mixing the early UK house sound with the sexy legendary US sound, together creating Carls mixture of funky pumping house music. Carl started playing around New Yorks high profile fashion scene, which was mainly hip-hop and rock and roll driven. Gradually Carl helped dance music reach boundaries that no one else could at venues such as LIFE, LIMELIGHT, STUDIO 54, and SPA. Doing events for the most elite in Paris and New York including Diesel, John Paul Gaultier and Calvin Klein before moving into the more serious house scene. In 1998 Carl became a resident with a small but highly potential house party called GBH. Five years later GBH now stands as New Yorks most prestigious and longest running Friday night event with more than a quarter of a million people passing through the doors. GBH is currently housed at the cities Premier nightclub CENTRO-FLY, which has just been voted Americas number one club. Playing alongside such artists as THE CHEMICAL BROS, THE CRYSTAL METHOD, ROGER SANCHEZ, DERRICK CARTER, MIGUEL MIGS, DAVID MORALES, TONY HUMPHRIES, PETE TONG, DARREN EMERSON, LAURENT GARNIER, DOC MARTIN and too many more to mention has earned him global recognition.
In the past 2 years Carl has played around the world from touring the US to Europe, Russia, Australia and the Far East. Also spinning with house heavy weights: DIMITRI FROM PARIS, FRANCIOS K, GRAHAM GOLD and MR.C to name a few. Carl now holds residencies at CENTRO-FLY and is the U.S resident for Miss Moneypennys. He is now signed to do Centro-Flys compilation series due out in May of 2003. Carl’s first production is going to be released for Miami s Winter Music Conference in March 2003.
