BRC… What does it stand for? What does it mean? Well, I’m a BRC. Brian R Carlson — That’s my name I went with the simple initials almost 15 yrs ago, and it’s managed to stick ever since. Easy enough, right?
Where does BRC come from? Well, he was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, lived in some corn too, bounced around a whole shitload and now — BOOM, here we are, back at it again. Now based in Los Angeles California, BRC is setting his sights on global domination.
Coming up as a drum and bass dj, I got a chance to play with guys Ed Rush and Optical, Klute, Pendulum, Hive, Amit, High Contrast, Dara, Dieselboy, AK1200 and hometown heroes, Stunna, Danny The Wild Child and Phantom 45. Since then, I’ve set my sights on all things bassy, and I’ve had the pleasure of playing alongside awesome artists such as Bonobo, Thievery Corp, Beardyman, Cut Chemist, Quantic, Tipper, Machinedrum, RJD2, Pretty Lights, Michal Menert, Shpongle, Ott, Emancipator, Bluetech, Eprom, Rusko, Skream, 12th Planet, Skrillex, Zeds Dead, Scuba, Mala, Silkie, Ant-ten-nae, Reso, Roommate, Noah D, Antiserum… ok. I’m done.
As far as production, I’ve worked with a ton of producers locally and abroad, including people like Wascal from Bristol, as well as done remixes and promo mixes for my friends the Spit Brothers on their San Fran based label Dubs Alive. What else…my friends across the pond in London at Altosync have also just recently put out a cd compilation with a few of my tunes, songs I wrote with longtime friend and producer Eric Borja (who happens to be the person I started a side project with back in 08’ called Solar Nebulae, it was called the Destroyer of Planets EP and was released on Betamorph Recordings). I also have a 2 track ep coming out on Point Audio out of Wales/Florida with Chicago based producer and MPC master RmJoint. A lot of other things in the pot, but those are a few solid things in the works… Until next time…
