DJ BLAZE CARRERAS was born in Venezuela and moved to Miami early in his childhood. In a household filled with musicians, Blaze was influenced by music at a young age and picked up the guitar easily. Growing up, Blaze was exposed to Latin, Brazilian, Flamenco, Cuban, disco and soul music constantly. He listened to a lot of rock music with his brother, but became fascinated with hip-hop by the time he was thirteen. After buying the Funkmaster Flex “Volume 1” compilation, he begged his mother to buy him turntables. Practicing and playing at parties quickly became his hobby and favorite thing to do. In 2005, he began getting more serious with opportunities to open/close at Mynt Lounge, Rokbar and Pawn Shop. This exposure and experience gave Blaze the opportunity to really pursue his career as a DJ on South Beach. For the next four years he worked as a DJ for the Opium Group, frequently playing at spots like Prive, Opium Garden, Mansion and SET, where he held a residency for three years.
