Growing up on a diet of pirate radio in north London, UK, Ben XO began actively DJing in 1998 and is well known for his series of DJ demos that are regularly released onto the internet.
XO has been holding down a weekly radio show on Bassdrive, the largest drum’n’bass shoutcast station on the internet, for over 7 years. For 5 of those he was also a resident on underground radio station Origin FM, following a brief stint at London’s prestigious pirate Rude FM. He also has several club residencies including Locus in Bristol and Grooverider’s Grace in London. He has played events in several continents including club nights and festivals large and small in Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Hungary, Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia, Switzerland, Romania and the USA.
Highlights include the Ashton Court festival in Bristol, 2002, a guest slot on Adam F’s Kiss FM show in 2005, a mix CD for the cover of Knowledge magazine, guest slots on national radio in Norway, Hungary and Estonia, and being interviewed on the subject of how the internet has changed drum’n’bass for Brian Belle-Fortune’s book ‘All Crews Muss Big Up’.
He was the webmaster for both bassdrive and dogsonacid for over 3 years, and has worked on other high profile D&B websites, working alongside graphic artists such as Facts Of Life Design and Protean Production, gaining a few mentions in Knowledge magazine.
He currently runs the record label Xposure Records, show-casing new talent and his taste in drum’n’bass. Xposure is distributed through Nu Urban Music.
