Born in the 4th of March 1977, Basil Hijawi (A.k.a.Bee Bee) began his first experience in DJing by spinning in school parties and Proms in 9th grade in Dubai, his place of birth.
Bee Bee’s first real live performance was at the age of 17, the summer of 1996, in one of the first and most popular Dance Clubs of Dubai called “N.R.G”.
Bongo Billy, was Bee Bee’s first nickname as a percussionist and his first broadcast on Radio One was called “In The Mix” every weekend.
That was not all, Bee Bee also played with many renown Ibiza legendary DJs back then such as Pete Tong. Graham Gold. Danny Tenaglia. Jon Pleased Wimmin. Allister WhiteHead. Danny Rampling. Brandon Block. Judge Jules. Phats & Small. Boy George. Carl Cox. Mr C. ATB. Paul Jackson. Artful Dodger. Nicky Holloway.
Norman Jay. Dan 2 Funky. Linden C and finally Tall Paul.
In addition Bee Bee also appeared in many of U.K’s brand clubs in tour such as Ministry Of Sound. Gate Crasher. Pacha. Heaven. The End. Miss Moneypenny’s.
Bee Bee got his first interview with Mix Mag London in 1999, where he was nominated as one of Dubai’s favourite sons!
He got his first Turn Table as a birthday gift at the age of 18 which helped him proceed with his practicing further more to reach his goal.
In the year 2000, Bee Bee moved to South Africa-Johannesburg where he also played in many scarlet clubs like E.S.P, Tramps, Pure…etc where he gained an interesting crowd from a new environment and a different culture until 2004, But before that in 1998, Bee Bee was hovering between London and Dubai.
England provided him his best music knowledge and experience.
In April 2004, Bee Bee moved back to his hometown, Amman – Jordan, a country that had a total lack of nightlife specially electronic music, Nobody was into this type of music; very few were the people who listened to it, Bee Bee travelled around Jordan for 3-4 months to discover a way to spread his music around, knowing that there was no radio stations and no clubs. He did not lose faith, he kept looking for contracts and promoters who were aware of Electronic Music until he found what he needed.
He first played in Barracuda Beach in Aqaba (The Red Sea) at some parties to start finding his own crowd.
Then in late 2004, Bee Bee heard of the best promoter in town, Julian Noursi. He went to present himself and the experience he always carried on with him, She decided to attend one of his parties in Barracuda Beach where she was amazed of what she saw so she invited him to join Distant Heat’s fest with Ferry Corsten for the first time in his life in summer 2004 and made the DJ spin in the after party in Aqaba.
Bee Bee’s adventure, in February 2005, he became the Resident DJ of Barracuda Beach for 10 months, where he found a huge amount of people falling for his music, following him all the way to the top and there Bee Bee’s name gained its glory.
The sun of summer 2005 shined on Bee Bee pretty well when he finally got the opportunity to grow. He was asked to warm up for Armin Van Buuren at Distant Heat’s festival, The Music Business began so Bee Bee decided to settle down and find his career in Jordan.
In summer 2006, Bee Bee played Armada night along with Markus Schulz. Mattew Dekay and Remy in Distant Heat Festival.
In August 2006, Radio Stations began to open up. No doubt, Bee Bee ran into one of the best radio station called “Beat Fm” and started his own show: “Club Sensation”. This huge hit for the Jordanian scene consisted of 5 hours live show directly from the decks to the ears of the listeners, presenting 3 different genres of electronic music every Friday night live.
Bee Bee has also hooked up with the world’s number One online radio station “Afterhours.fm” specified in Trance and Progressive Music in which he presents two hours session ‘’State Of JorDance’’ exclusively every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
In November 2006, Bee Bee left Barracuda Beach in Aqaba, got back to Amman (the capital city) in which he played many nights along Andy Moor, Nick Warren, Hed Kandi, and many other big names and Clubs.
Bee Bee’s name spread around the region and he played in the most popular night clubs in Beirut-Lebanon such as BO18. X-OM. Silicon. The Basement. Wonderbar.
In 2007, Bee Bee went to visit England back again for a month, he headed to Kent where he played twice at the “Loft” under the Club management’s request.
In summer 2007, Bee Bee was back to Jordan where he finally became the Resident DJ of Distant Heat’s festival, He played along with Above & Beyond. Aly & Fila. Dave Seaman.
In 2008, Bee Bee released his first album Destination under Original Bass Records France.
In summer 2008, Bee Bee played again in Distant Heat’s Festival along with Josh Gabriel. Satoshi Tomiie. Rachael Starr.
In winter 2008 Bee Bee played in Urban Wave along with Judge Jules. Matt Hardwick.
In January 2009, Bee Bee stopped his weekly broadcast Club Sensation on Beat FM to Start a new show called The Fix exclusive to SPIN FM.
IN March 2009, Bee Bee played Blue Wave dance fest along with Sander Kleinenberg.
In March 2009, Bee Bee released his second album Floating Wave under Padded Cell Productions Canada.
In April 2009, Bee Bee released an exclusive EP Dream Escape under Omerta Records Canada.
In summer 2009, Bee Bee played Distant Heat Fest along with Armin Van Buuren. Glenn Morrison.
In October 2009, Bee Bee decided to pack his bags to start a new plan, a new culture and a totally new and big competition in Canada. He kicked off with quite an interesting start by spinning in various nights at Gallery Room the Guvernment nightclub, Century Room, Li’ly, Stereo Sound & Bar which are based in Toronto-Ontario.
In Febuary 2010, Bee Bee released Wadi Rumble EP in collaboration with DJ Exoda, This EP has received massive success and has been getting massive plays by DJ’s around the world. This release has propelled Bee Bee into the top 5 best sellers on Omerta Records this season.
In April 2010, Bee Bee was Voted number 3 on DJ Mag Top 50 DJs in the Middle East.
Bee Bee’s trip will still go on until one day his message reaches the world!
