Biography

Alex’s interest in music began at the very tender age of 3 when he started to play the violin and piano. He worked hard at both instruments and achieved grade 8 distinctions in both when he was 18.

Dance music had always appealed to Alex, but he didn’t discover Trance until 2000 when he started to attend Gatecrasher at the Republic, Sheffield on a regular basis. Soon after, he taught myself to mix on a friends decks and purchased his own in 2002. In September of that year Alex was ecstatic to get his first gig playing the last set at his local night, Fully Charged at the Fez Club.

Alex’s first influences were Matt Hardwick and Tiesto and other regulars who graced the decks at Gatecrasher. He now enjoys listening to the likes of Markus Schulz, Menno De Jong and Jon O’Bir.

Alex says there are far too many good producers in today’s scene to mention, but among the more well known ones, his favourites include, Gareth Emery, Activa, Tom Colontonio, Genix, Maor Levi, Mat Zo, Probspot, Dynamic Illusion, Michael Cassette and Jay Luman.

Alex’s biggest achievement to date is winning Paul Kershaw’s Rising Star of April 2005 on his Solid State show aired on Galaxy Radio. He also took part in the Ministry of Sound Donate to Dance event in March 2005 by being selected to play in the Radio DJ competition, finishing a respectable 4th after the public vote.

Alex has also enjoyed stints on Internet Radio. He got his first taste of this with the up and coming Trancemixers.com where he had a weekly residency for 6 months. Then onto his Trancelated Radio show on the well established EssentialTrance.co.uk.

2007 has been a busy year away from the djing but he hopes to get back on the wagon with a monthly 2 hour set in 2008.
