With a sound crossing from vocal garage to hard pumping house; positive editorial coverage (QX, Gay Times, Attitude, Mixmag, DJ Magazine, The Guardian) and with a namecheck from Danny Rampling as his favourite DJ, Alan Thompson has clearly established himself as one of the new breed of British DJ talent.
“A DJ hero who plays the sassiest little set a clubber could hope to hear” – The Guardian 25/8/95
A graduate of what you might describe as the Trade DJ apprenticeship system, Alan was provided with his first big break playing a Trade party at Bagleys in 1993. Residencies at Trade and DTPM soon followed, along with Strawberry Sundae, Triptonite North (Edinburgh) and a regular spot at the Italian after-hours bash, Exogroove. A popular DJ not only on the London gay scene, but around the world thanks to hugely successful tours and guest spots in Australia, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Italy, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain and USA. Busy in the studio, remixed artists include Blondie, DJ Sneak, EMJ, and Lonnie Gordon. He has compiled and mixed for both Trade Volume 2 Compilation, and Trade Summer Holiday Compilation, both of which were hugely successful. Alan works with fellow Trade resident Steve Thomas as a remix team under the banner of FRUITLOOP, and together they have released several original tracks all released on Tripoli Trax. This year included in the Top 100 DJs poll for the first time, Alans career can only keep rising and set to hit unscheduled heights this year
