DJ 8-Ball was co-owner of his own mobile disc jockey group, Sound In Motion. In 1992 he won the DMC West Coast championship and represented the West Coast in the United States finals. In 1993 he was accepted into and won the New Music Seminar/Supermen Inc. DJ battle For World Supremacy. 8-Ball has been featured in many publications including the New Yorker, The Source, The Bomb and The S.F. Examiner. He has also been featured on and made guest appearances on radio stations KMEL, KZSU, KSJS and KSFS. He has also been featured on KPIX-Channel 5 TV news, all of which are major bay area stations. 8-Ball has judged several DJ battles including S.F.‘s KMEL Def Jam elimination battle and the 1994 NMS/Supermen Inc. World DJ Battle. In 1995 8-Ball was sponsored to tour and perform in Tokyo, Japan by Vestax Inc. along with DJ Q-Bert and Shortkut who are also members of the world famous Skratch Piklz. 8-Ball became the regular DJ for First Cut, a Bay Area TV show on KRON during its 1996 season. 8-Ball was featured on the 1999 Turntable TV Annual video. Also in 1999 8-ball worked with the swing-hop group Jimmy Luxury & The Tommy Rome Orchestra who is featured on Sony EPIC music label. As a member of Jimmy Luxury & Co. 8-Ball has opened for other acts such as RUN DMC, G Love & Special Sauce, Blondie and Kool Keith. Also released is the Shiggar Fraggar Show! Vol 3. A CD & video of live recorded shows from the bay area’s Pirate Radio whose stars included 8-Ball. In July 2000 in San Francisco, a historical gathering of past DJ champions was held titled Skratchcon 2000. One of the performers included 8-ball who demonstrated his now world famous “test tone scratching” techniques. Other CD releases include Turntables By The Bay Vol.2 and Skratch Attack Vol.1. 8-ball has DJ’d for Fanime 2k1, 2k2 and 2k3, the largest bay area anime convention held and opened for Scratch the Movie tour at the Fillmore in San Francisco featuring the Executioners and Mixmaster Mike. In 2006 8-ball was invited to be a special guest DJ in the Spin The Battle event, a DJ competition that was part of the Pepsi Q-Quest competition in which contestants would battle special guest DJ’s at random in specific categories. 8-ball is currently a regular DJ every Friday night at Kobe Sake’s Raw Lounge located in San Bruno, California. In 2011 he entered both the online DMC DJ Battle in which he went to the final round three times and also the DMC Teams category with DJ Charles Angeles, in which they took second place. In 2012 he served as judge at the Bay Area’s DMC eliminations.
