Chad Bozzarelli had an interest in electronic music since he was 10 years old. Early influences can be accredited to Orbital, Way Out West, The Light, Sasha, and Underworld. Chad quickly began using his passion to create something tangible as he began splicing his own cassette tapes. In 1996, Chad produced his first full length mix of all original material, including acid house, funk, jazz, and acid trance. It wasn’t until a couple years later that he entered the rave circuit as DJ 2RIP and immediately became recognized as one of Pittsburgh’s hottest up & coming talents, playing sunrise sets that often kept the dancefloor moving well into the morning.

By 2002 DJ 2RIP was receiving bookings at GROOVE, Pittsburgh Magazine’s rated ..1 clubnight. This is where he began playing shows alongside such talents as Micro, Icey, and Simply Jeff. Although he was playing with some of the biggest names in the industry, 2RIP felt that he had to do something more to add intensity to the music. His mixing became more complex at this point as he opened his mind to adding beat juggles, backspins, scratching, and more complicated pan & EQ tricks to his sets.

The next two years proved to be the busiest for 2RIP. Between 2003 and 2006 he performed over 220 shows from Pittsburgh, PA to Phoenix, AZ with talents like The Crystal Method, The X-Ecutioners, Cirrus, Klute, and Juju. This includes performances at nationally known clubs Spundae, Nation, and Groove. Aside from live shows, this was also a time that some of his most memorable mixsets had been recorded, adding close to 15 new full-length CDs to the underground market.

Within that timespan, 2RIP joined forces with fellow house music junkie, Jon Carpenter, to host Wednesday Night Mayhem â?? an internet broadcast, hosted by orbitalgrooves. The duo invited dozens of friends to their studio to party while they provided music to the stream each week. These Wednesday night gatherings led to the formation of one of central Pennsylvania’s most successful weekly parties. 2rip and Jon Carpenter quit their internet show to open Release @ Bar Bleu.

Although not showcasing the biggest names in the industry, Release became a focus for providing quality entertainment at a price that could compete with other local entertainment options. Release became the home base for much of 2RIP’s operations, using the weekly as a kingpin for hosting other area raves such as “Ultrasonic”, “Welcome to Our House 1&2”, “Back 2 Da Old Skool”, and “Night of the Living Breaks 1, 2, and 3.”

Over the years 2RIP has developed an intricate fusion of styles. As a dj, his eclectic record collection includes techno, tech house, nu skool & tech breaks, progressive, trance, tribal, and house music. His blend of acid and bass-laden tracks has become popular with most of his fans and his enthusiasm continues to pave the way for new listeners, as well as believers, in the electronic dance music culture.

Currently involved with the Washington, DC-based collective The Omega Squad, 2rip has become a main element in throwing “takeovers” as well as promoting for Upfront Industries, Club Five, and Buzzlife Productions.
