For 2Beeps, it all comes back to the music. It’s what moves and inspires him, and what his fans are so eager to hear. His productions are a ride through cut- up samples, epic breakdowns, and filthy bass. And what about the obligatory name drops? How’s this – his music has been supported by the likes of Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Reid Speed, Designer Drugs, and Style of Eye.
2Beeps, aka Matt Verzola, churns out his slick productions and floor-thumping mixtapes from his studio in Brooklyn, NY. That was where much of the magic took place for his monstrous King Kong EP, a joint venture with music veteran Ming that was released by the iconic dance music label Dim Mak Records. King Kong showed the world the 2Beeps sound, and they showed their love by propelling the EP up the Beatport charts. In a matter of days, the title track made the Top 20 in Electro House and the Top 100 Overall.
What are his roots? A band geek and computer nerd in high school, 2Beeps spent most weekends going to LAN parties or raves. Electronic music was a magnet for him, and the new sounds and musical ideas were infectious.
“There’s a lot of different dance music I liked growing up. Old school rave stuff like Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Fatboy Slim, to big trance producers like Paul Van Dyk. I fell in love with Daft Punk, and I got into D.A.V.E. the Drummer style techno as I got older. The whole Electro House and Dubstep movement is something I’m very excited about. I think it’s amazing how many different sounds and vibes are out there. All of that music influences me when I sit down to make a song.”
