Newest SLYVLL Signee Parker Sparks Our Souls With Debut "Spark" EP

03 October 2017 - - The DJ List

We've seen him taking over socials as a cute little cartoon superhero, held by guys like BORGORE and SPOCK- now, we see the plush come to life as PARKER takes the decks alongside heavyweights like DIPLO and GHASTLY to become electronic music's newest force to be reckoned with. Don't let the innocent little cartoon fool you, the caliber of quality and sound that SLYVLL's freshest signee is capable of producing is far from little- and his latest "Spark" EP proves just that.

Having been out for only 12 days now and racking up to well over 60K plays, "Spark" provides that little electric shock (or in this case, SPARK, get it?) that we so desperately in our lives. It's as if the 5-track EP resembles a puzzle; all the pieces of the puzzle are a pretty different from one another, yet somewhat alike- but all come together to present this incredible vision that Parker has created. Kicking off with "Home", the twinkly lil' number features animated vocals from Oh Boy that's bound to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth and a wobbly bassline that'll get your head boppin' and swayin'. Next up is "Spark", named after the debut EP- and truthfully, I don't even have the words to explain this one. All I can say is this one HITS, and now I know why Parker is referred to as "Parker Hits".

Only a few songs into the EP does it become evident that the young producer has already established himself as an artistically diverse tastemaker. From "Spark" comes my personal favorite, "Shy"- a cheeky, fast-paced tune wrapped in high-pitched vocal chops, glittery synths and thumping kicks that makes the transition midway to a slower-paced, laid-back, almost hip-hop type beat that balance's the record out seamlessly. Next up is "Wild- jam packed with a sexy vocal, infectious melody, future bass elements and bubbly blips that are bound to make you wanna get wild.

Speaking of balance, this entire EP is the perfect concoction of strong, extraordinary productions and melodic vocals. The final song of the EP "Afterglow" is a pleasant switch-up that showcases Parker's versatility and capability to mold elements of different genres into his sound- featuring bouncy drum and bass influences and those flawless Parker vocal chops. There's something bittersweet about this one that makes it the ideal way to conclude the EP- keeping us on our toes for what's to come for Parker. But all I know is that it's gonna be nothing short of stellar.

Don't sleep on Parker, he'll soar to the top in his cartoon superhero attire and all before you know it. "Spark" literally sparkles, and it's the epitome of what a debut EP should be- setting the tone for what's to be a very promising future for Parker. Along with this mammoth of an EP drop, he'll be finishing the 2017 year strong with his first North American tour as well.
