San Francisco, a city known for its technological innovations and artistic leanings, will once again be the epicenter of those two worlds as SF MusicTech Week begins tomorrow - leading up to the 16th SF MusicTech Summit this coming Tuesday (November 11) at the Hotel Kabuki in Japantown from 9am to 6pm. Throughout the week, a slew of events will dot San Francisco, starting with Aaron Swartz Day on Saturday at the Internet Archive, which celebrates the life of the late computer prodigy and hacktivist on what would have been his 28th birthday. (Click here for the full list of MusicTech Week events.)
With guest speakers from prestigious industry-related companies - including Bandcamp, Pandora, LyricFind, StubHub, and SoundHound - as well as prolific musicians such as rapper Chamillionaire and drummer Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead, the 16th SF MusicTech Summit will be an event to talk about in regards to the status of the music industry in the modern digital age. The conference will be as thought-provoking as much as it is informative, with various panels discussing the challenges and possible solutions within the realm of music technology.
We at the DJ List will bring you coverage bright and early in the morning, so stay tuned for the latest. (For more on the 16th SF MusicTech Summit, click here to go to their main website.)
