With so many festivals these days, how does one even choose which to go to? There’s new ones sprouting up every year, and most of these festivals have similar lineups and are just that: lineups, nothing more. In a time where festival saturation is at an all-time high, standing out is imperative to drawing in an audience.
Lightning in a Bottle knows this and has been ahead of the curve for nearly 20 years. Their multi-faceted boutique approach means their festival is more than just a festival. It’s a 4 day experience filled with workshops, swimming, art, yoga, talks, discussions, a soap box derby (we’re not kidding), and of course music.
The lineup at this year’s LiB is eclectic, in the very best way. As co-founder and music director, Jesse Flemming puts it, “We're definitely not trying to play the same game we are seeing with all the massive festivals these days when we book our music programming… For us the goal is to craft a musical playlist that will perfectly guide people along the experience we're trying to create.”
Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals head up the lineup followed by the ever mysterious, ZHU and electro-funk technician, GRIZ. The broad range of music continues with rising NY-based duo, SOFI TUKKER, sensory overload conductor, TIPPER, and MODESELEKTOR fresh off their 2017 MODERAT tour. House fans have their appetite filled from the likes of MK, THE BLACK MADONNA, RODRIGUEZ JR., YOTTO, Patrice Bäumel, Walker and Royce, ööna Dahl and many more.
Did we mention that’s just Phase 1? LiB 2018 will take over Lake San Antonio in Bradley, CA from May 23rd – 28th. Head over to their website now to grab tickets and check out everything they’ve got in store.
