New York last week got a fresh day off filled with some of the top artists in the hip hop world on a rainy Saturday in Brooklyn. The Knockdown Center was transformed into an immersive show of art, culture, fashion, and music. Performances alone were enough to keep you there, but looking around and taking in the immense amount of style and fashion that came along made this the event to be at on a gloomy Saturday afternoon.
Top performances by BBYMUTHA, a Tennessee based rapper and mother of four, who has gone viral in the underground hip hop scene over the last year. Her unique edge to rapping is just what is needed and she did not disappoint, the stage presence was uncanny as the crowd just commanded her performance from start to finish.
Another crowd favorite performance came from Harlem's own Sheck Wes. If you aren't familiar with this name, well you better get on that ASAP. The 19 year old rapper has risen from nothing seemingly out of nowhere. He started making music at a young age and developed a transcending form of a style that have taken fans by storm. His performance was strong and engaging, which made it one of the most memorable performances of the day.
