Aussie producer NOY has just released his new track "Attitude" featuring rap artist Kei Leeza, and it's going off. Riddled with low-end goodness and powerful riff-work, it's going to be around for quite some time.
We chatted with Noy to hear more about the making of it...
Let’s kick things off, can you tell us a little about yourself… who are you and where are you currently based?
I’m Noy, I’m a DJ & producer and my favorite genre of music at the moment is bass music trap. I run my own clothing label ‘Another Autumn’ and also work as a graphic designer during the week. I’m currently based in Brisbane, Australia.
How long have you all been making music? What made you first want to write it?
I’ve been making music for a few years now. I just wanted to share music with my own taste on it. It’s a great feeling to see a huge reaction from everyone on something you created.
What do you enjoy most about having music as your career?
It’s always creative and fun and I get to meet so many awesome people.
Where do you mostly draw your inspiration? How would you describe your trademark sound to those who haven’t heard it yet?
I literally draw my inspiration from anywhere and everywhere, I could just be listening to a song of any genre and it will give me an idea for a song to write or I’ll want to remix it. I can’t really describe myself as a "trademark" sound because I want to keep myself open to genres and sounds.
We love the wicked “Attitude” – such a killer sound. How long did you work on it for? Are you happy with the final result?
I’m extremely happy with the final result, it is such a favourite of mine. I can’t really remember how long I worked on it for but it was definitely something that came to me very quick and didn’t take too long to complete.
How did you happen to work with Kei Leeza? Did you two already know each other?
Kei Leeza is one of my good friends I met through the Dimes boys. Kei Leeza is part of a crew called the Imperial Collective, which have so many talented dudes in it. He was awesome to work with, literally laid the vocals out for "Attitude" so quick.
Where do you see your sound progressing over the coming months/years?
As mentioned, I love all genres and with some of my upcoming releases my sound has already progressed into a more cross-over radio friendly bass sound! I never want to be only known for making one genre, so any sub-genres in a bass realm is my vibe!
If you could work with any artist (alive or dead) on a track, who would you choose and why?
At the moment it would just be DJ Snake, I’m all about that dude for so long now and he is a big inspiration of mine.
What do you have coming up next in 2017? Are there any more releases in the pipeline you can share with us yet?
Ummm, 2017 I have a national tour which I just started and then I have a few new songs which will hopefully be out later this year, they’ll be more of a cross-over in the bass scene like I said, so I’m excited to share some new music with you guys in a different style. But in saying that I’ll also have some new flips out very soon.
