We sat down with Australian duo THE ASTON SHUFFLE to discuss their newest monthly mix series and what the future holds in store for these two. They discussed what this mix is every month, a potential tour in the future, and how they think they are just two average Australian dudes making music. Well, we think that two average dudes that make this type of music are more than just average. Read their responses below and get a glimpse into the duo that is prepared to make moves and shakes this year.
Tell us about your 4th edition in your mix series?
It's all about the hottest tracks we've come across in March.
Why did you guys name it only 100's?
The name came from wanting the mixes to feature tracks that we think are on 100.
What made you guys want to start a mix series?
Between constant tour-life and weekly radio show (Triple J's Friday Night Shuffle), we realized that we have so much music that we could easily come up with a new monthly mixtape showcasing the hottest tracks that we think our fans need to hear! It's all new music and a lot of new artists so it's about helping to get new and undiscovered artists out there!
Do you plan to continue it on, even after 2017?
We sure do! We're actually planning to tour it very soon! More deets on that shortly
Tell us about March's mix, what is your favorite track on it?
March was a really good month for new music. There were some great pop releases from Mura Masa and Calvin Harris plus some huge club tracks from Offaiah, Waze and Odyssey plus that huge collaboration from Mark Knight, Green Velvet and Rene Amesz. The dance gods were very kind to us this month!
When do you guys start to build the mix, end of the month or throughout the month?
We try to make sure that the latest episode drops in the last week of that month. that way we get the most amount of time to choose what we think are the biggest releases of that month
What's the creative process like building these mixes?
Individually we'll come up with a list of tracks that we think should be featured in the upcoming episode. Then after a few back n forths and many heated discussions, we end up agreeing on the final playlist.
Aside from the mixes, do you guys have anything exciting coming up for festival season?
We're really looking forward to playing at Tomorrowland this year. It's def one of the festivals we've always wanted to play so ticking that one off the career "to do list" will be a highlight this year.
Any new releases or albums on the way we can look forward to?
We're finishing up a few new songs right now so you'll hopefully be hearing all about them very soon!
What's something wild and crazy you would want your fans to know about you guys?
We're honestly not that wild and crazy. Just 2 dudes from Australia that love making music and playing shows around the world.
