An extension of web and music firm Curvve Media, Curvve Recordings is an EDM record label founded by DJ Vinny Troia in 2003.
Troia created Curvve Recordings to capitalize on the growing popularity of EDM in the early 2000’s by creating legal remixes of classic hit songs. This goal was achieved almost immediately with Troia’s remix of Ultra Nate’s “Free” that reached #23 on the Billboard Hot Dance Charts in 2004. Curvve’s success with chart topping remixes continued into the decade with N’Dea Davenport’s “One Day My Love” which reached #10 on the Billboard hot club dance play charts, and with Vinny Troia’s “Flow” that featured Jaidene Veda and went to #1 on Beatport TWICE, ranked #9 on Sirius radio’s most played songs of 2009, and reached the top 20 on billboard charts.
Even with the label steadily doing well churning out remixes of popular vocal songs, Troia opted in 2006 to begin producing more abstract, underground electronic dance music. Many songs from this era entered the top 10 on Beatport, including those by artists such as Gareth Emery, Dave Aude, Jay Lumen, Jerome Isma-ae, Starkillers, Fine Taste, and notably David Guetta’s remix of Chris Willis’s “My Freedom.” Curvve also began publishing EDM compilations for night clubs during these years, the first of which was 2006’s Curvve Vol 1: Live at Miso. The label celebrated its ten year anniversary in 2013 with the release of “Fade Into You”.
