FAQ

Below is a list of frequently asked questions by members of The DJ List. If you cannot find the answer to your question in this list, please let us know.

Sign-In Help

  1. Why doesn't my password work?

There are several reasons why you may be getting an "Invalid Password" error message:
    • Set your CAPS LOCK key correctly. Passwords are case sensitive (meaning that "PASSWORD," "PaSsWoRd," and "password" are not equivalent), so be sure to keep this in mind when entering your password.
    • Sign in with the correct Email Address. Make sure that you are using the correct Email Address when signing in to your account.
    • Delete your cookie files. A cookie is a small piece of information stored by your browser that helps identify you. If your cookie is not being accepted correctly, you will be logged out of your account as soon as you move to a different page. This may be blocking your current ability to log in or stay logged in. To delete your cookies, close all browser windows, find the "cookies" directory, and delete the cookie files inside. As always, make sure that you have selected the proper files before deleting.
    • Clear your browser's cache. At times it's necessary to clear your browser's cache. The cache is the memory your browser uses to store content of the web pages that you visit. Storing that content lets your browser load those same pages more quickly the next time you visit them.
  2. What if I forgot my password?

You can reset your password here. Make sure to provide the same email address you gave during registration or when you last updated your account. Without the correct verification information, you will not be able to obtain your password.
  3. How do I change my password?

After you've logged out, you can change your password here. Make sure to provide the same email address you gave during registration or when you last updated your account. Without the correct verification information, you will not be able to obtain your password.
  4. I've tried everything and still cannot login?

Please be sure that your web browser has it's "cookie" settings set to "enabled". A Cookie is: A very small text file placed on your hard drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. A Cookie's Purpose is: To tell the server you need to be recognized by the server to state whether or not you are logged in.

  12. About the 2012 Ranking Reboot

The DJ List was rebooted on March 20th 2012. In previous years, we've `reset` The DJ List annually on the 1st of January. On March 20th 2012, we rebooted the ranking, applying a new algorithm for ranking DJs -- which is different than previous years.

The most prominent element of the reboot is that we're now more focused on recent voting and DJ activity, rather older - potentially stale - information that does not reflect that of the current DJ industry. DJs, if you no longer have a ranking or your current ranking is not what it may have been previously, you simply haven't had enough fan votes lately.

Additionally, we now more aggressively create, update and monitor voting data to generate the new ranking.

Any activity seen as cheating from any members will not be tolerated and will result in the DJs permanent exclusion from our poll.

We've been working very hard at and are extremely proud of the new ranking system. We feel this is our best, if not the best, ranking of DJs anywhere. Checkout The DJ List.

  13. How do I change my member nickname and url?

You can update your member nickname here one time on the Nickname/URL Update Page.

You can only change your nickname if it was originally auto assigned to you.
