Some of London’s finest songwriters take to the stage to play some tunes and reveal the secrets behind the songs. The unique ‘Round’ format, scrapping the traditional ‘set-by-set’ arrangement and letting the artists share the stage, gives an insight into a songwriter’s process that is truly not to be missed!
On stage for Round 16 we have:
Kevin Davy White
Blues and soul run through his veins, and rock and funk through his blood. Combining superb showmanship with virtuoso guitar playing and a voice reminiscent of Al Green and Otis Redding, Kevin plays wonderful original songs and beautifully arranged covers.
London-based multi-instrumentalist Luke Yates beguiles audiences with stories of love, lust, life, freedom and adventure. He draws on experiences from travelling the world with a guitar, vocal coaching for the world’s leading contemporary choir, managing a successful music venue and performing in over 80 countries.
“Luke has many strings to his bow… An absolutely superb songwriter." — Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2
Joe Martin is a singer-songwriter from the Ribble Valley who is currently based in Leeds. Joe has always been surrounded by music, and grew up listening to artists such as The Beatles, Eagles, James Taylor and Bob Dylan. As Joe’s interest in Americana and Country music developed, he took influence from more contemporary artists such as Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, John Paul White and Brent Cobb.
Over the past three years, Joe has supported Country acts such as The Shires and Ward Thomas, and has performed at festivals such as Country to Country, The Great British Folk Festival and High and Lonesome Festival with his band.
While visiting Nashville in Autumn 2016, Joe collaborated with London producer Sue McMillan and hit songwriter Jill Colucci. He also recorded at Sound Emporium Studios, which has hosted artists such as Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss and the cast of the US drama Nashville.
After the songwriters finish, the night is not over! Grab one of Rolling Stock’s legendary cocktails and request a tune from host Grant Carruthers as we party on into the night!
