Sub:terrein back in the OT with artists waging full frontal sonic attack on the forces of convention.
A high intensity live set featuring the heavy decaying analogue constructions of Parrish Smith allied with the forceful vocal assualts of Mark Knekelhuis.
#acid #punk #industrial #techno #tribalgrind #embracethevoid
Smith saw his first release on Glasgow’s Contort Yourself records in 2014 with the track ‘Revolution Will Always Be Televised’, a pitched down rolling wave of rhythm that can flatten buildings. трип, Nina Kraviz’s label had Smith’s track ‘1.0 : 8.0 Afrika Genocide’ featured on their first release, a raucus work out of tribal drums, contorted sounds and general anxiety. Last year saw Smith fronting Amsterdam’s Knekelhuis records’ second release ‘Virgin Of The World’. A fiercly powerful four tracker of acid, EBM and industrial sounds, mutated and perverted to create a heavy, hypnotically rhythmic paean to the void, the futility of ignorance and the black room dance.
Sonic hooligan Mark Knekelhuis has been creeping around the darker corners of the Dutch music scene for well over a decade now. Originally part of the hardcore punk scene he used to perform in bands such as Cathode and How the Gods Kill. Here now today Mark co-owns and runs Amsterdam based label Knekelhuis releasing new music from artists such as Pagan Sector (Legowelt & Cliff Lothar) and Maoupa Mazzocchetti. Whilst musically removed from hardcore Mark’s attitude and ethos is still #punkasfuck in its energy and approach.
The pairing of Mark van de Maat and Parrish Smith makes a powerful sonic force that is utterly futile to resist. Be ready.
Alice – Late Night Maintenance
We’ve had our eyes on Alice T Mensah for a while ever since we saw his first Shourai sessions back in 2015. A confident and creative DJ with a background in soundsystems Alice is a man that knows how to properly angle his vibrations. Mensah runs the Latenightmaintenance nights down in Doka with local DJs and guests playing sets that incorporate everything from tribal folk music to jazz, techno and UK bass. Playing a two hour set we’re proud that Alice accepted our invitation as he will provide the perfect compliment to the sounds of our headlining act.

Sub:terrein AMS, founded in the kraakpands van AMS by two immigrant bastards in 2011. Locked on with their first event in Doka back in November 2013 inviting Gerry Read over from the UK. Since then we have moved to the dark halls of the OT301 hosting serious underground talent such as Drvg Cvltvre, Chris Mitchell, Beneath, Avalon Emerson, Hodge, Koehler and JASSS.
