Scott Rizzo best known as Rizzo Vassalo has had a prolific career as a live mash Dj for over 2 decades. He started as a mobile dj and along side the president of the bowling proprietors association Dennis Fanucci, created the midnight, cosmic bowling scene in the early 90s all over the bay area. In 2001, he took the knowledge he had gained from promoting and DJing the Cosmic bowling scene into the local nightclub and bar arena. He landed several residences in the Top 40 and Hip-hop genres that spanned over a decade.
After attending the Burning Man festival in 2013, Rizzo was inspired by the sounds of some of the most well respected house DJs around. From that point on, he decided to make a drastic change in his career and reinvent himself as a house DJ. Upon his return from Burning Man, Rizzo quit all of his decade long residencies and moved into the underground scene in Oakland & San Francisco, CA. His talent was quickly noticed by the well-established underground and EDM DJ/promoter Omega. The two formed a partnership and created a new Underground promotion company under the name UG4L (Underground 4 Life). For a year the dynamic duo made their mark on the underground scene. Their events are known across Northern California as the premier spot for after hours that was dedicated itself to the advancement of the rave community and the discovery and support of new and rising talent in the Bay Area. Rizzzo Vassalo has also been featured in San Francisco nightclubs, such as Origin and the Grand, and popular after hours venues.
The last two years Rizzo Vassalo has been going full speed. Playing at many festivals such as Symbiosis 2015-16, Bass Camp Festival in S. Lake Tahoe-NV, X-Fest in Modesto-CA, Burning Man stages like Opulent Temple, The Christina Art Yacht, Camp Walter, Ephemerisle 2015-16, Bump Music Festival 2015, Sounds of Summer Music Festivals, and Resident Dj for Hard Rock Hotel in South Lake Tahoe since Jan of 2016.
In 2016 Rizzo wanted to do something different and brought together a group of friends and burners and fabricated The Venom Art Boat. Taking an old 24’ pontoon boat and turning it into a floating sound stage that looks like a Scorpion. Featuring a massive 21k watt sound system with a full DJ booth, thousands of LED lights, Venom has been featured at 5 music festivals on the water and on land.
Whether he is behind the decks or behind the fabrication, Rizzo’s creativity doesn’t stop.
