SVEN VAN HEES Biography
Sven Van Hees. Dj & producer from Antwerp, Belgium.
Made his mark by producing Belgium’s first ever Dance radioshow in 1985 with “Liaisons dangereuses”.
Started producing music in 1989 at Usa Import records, one of the co founders of WONKA beats, former
labelmanager of the R & S subsidiary GLOBAL CUTS, switched from producing Tribal & techno to downtempo
in 1996 with " Tabula rasa" (featured on the Future sound of Jazz Vol 2 by Compost).
With GEMINI, released in 1999, Van Hees & a couple of his peirs practically re-invented the term Chill Out.
The album is still considered today one of the blueprints of the whole Lounge revival.
Followed up with Calypso, recorded a compilation for BLUE NOTE records in 2003 and decided to start his own label
in 2005 with YOUR LIPS
Has released 3 albums on his label SYNESTHESIA (2005), EXOTICA (2007) & MAVERICK (2009).
Though Sven Van Hees produces merely downtempo these days, he has always kept an eye on the Dance scene,
which can be heard in his Dj sets which are uplifting House with a firm beat & a good groove!
Played worldwide at numerous events & will be introducing his new LIve band in 2011 THE SVENGALI ORCHESTRA.
