SNYPER Biography
Snyper has been a native to the Atlanta underground for quite some time. In the mid nineties, spinning under various aliases such as “Jinx” and “Furious Stylz”, Snyper aka Scott Thomas developed his skills spinning a hybrid mix of bangin’ Chicago house, Funky electro-breakz, and Acid house at various spots in the early Atlanta EDM scene. In early ‘99, teaming up with the notorious jungle dj Kysa, to form Link Productions, the duo set new standards in the stateside breakbeat hardcore scene, dropping mind-blowing tag sets all over the southeast that would go back and forth from drum n’ bass to breakz with no apparent seam, hence bridging the “Link” between the two genres. By the year 2000, the drum n’ bass influence took over and became Snyper’s passion and main focus of exploration. In 2000, Snyper founded “Science Funktion Recordings”, which became a collective label of extremely talented, up and coming dj’s, producers, and emcees who ripped up the local/national scene with a wide array of styles including drum n’ bass, breakbeat, house, hip hop, garage, electro, hardcore, trance, progressive, and everything in between. At this point in his career, Snypers style began to include elements not seen or heard thus far…fusing high energy, driving neurofunk sound with the darker, rolling, more abstract techstep feel, with scratching and turntablism techniques involved, Snyper had developed a very unique style, making dancefloors explode wherever he touched down. Finally, in mid 2000, Snypers talent was recognized by Chad Smith aka Vinylboy with Vinylboy-Chromatic productions out of Atlanta. At this point, Snyper began to play alongside just about every big name in the buisness, opening up for such huge acts as Goldie, Doc Roc, Aphrodite, Odi, Pish Posh, AK1200, Dieselboy, Dara, DB, Hive, Sage, E Sassin, Ufo, Karl K, Prophecy, Spacemen, Feelgood, Icey, Baby Anne, Raz, Irene, the list goes on and on, you name them, Snyper has played with them…Becoming a resident at Atlantas prestigious Globe Theatre, Snyper has continued to move huge crowds with his massive sound. | read more
